Losses

Posted on Wed Mar 11th, 2020 @ 3:52am by Lieutenant Commander J'Loni Mo'Bri & Lieutenant Joseph Calloway

Mission: Side Posts
Location: Engineering
Timeline: Right after the second wave hit.

JC walked to engineering to meet one of the only officers he met before the accident. He had worked throughout the day and then into the early hours of the morning tending casualties throughout the damaged ship. As he entered the engineering space, he was once again out of his element but then he imagined that was how most people felt when they entered Medical too. Standing in the doorway he quickly identified the chief engineers office and knocked politely on the door.

"Enter", J'Loni said in a weary voice. She had seen the doctor after the accident. She was knee deep reports, casialty reports, damage control reports and other reports when the doctor walked in.

"I am sorry Doctor, I have so many reports to do and so many to sign off on I don't know where to start. Oh thankyou for patching me up, I do appreciate it. Now, how may I be of service? My time here is limited as I am needed on the bridge," she said. J'Loni did not want to sound rude but she could not be in two places at the same time.

"I was coming by, because you missed your follow up appointment this morning, I know you are busy holding the ship together, but it's my job to keep you hardheaded officers together," he said with a grin.

"I am so sorry Dr. Calloway, but we have to find a way to basically keep my lady Lantau in one piece and flying. So right now we are trying ways of glueing the Lantau together enough to get her moving", J'Loni said in a tired voice. Before the doctor could move, Ens. Albright came in and started to say something about the warp core...., "Sir...sorry to bother but we found a crack in th.....," J'Loni cut her off. "Get out! Gripe to the team leader about the crack in the dilithium chamber hatch! Now GETOUT!!", J'Loni barked. Albright backed up slowly, fully understanding her boss was tired and upset not in the best of moods. Albright looked at the doctor, "Her bark is worse than her bite sir. She is tired and we are used to it already. Please get her to go get some sleep".

JC bit his lip, a bit surprised at the engineers reaction, he followed her out the door, “Ma’am, I need you to stop for just a moment if you over exert yourself, you will be right back in medical. You need to give orders and remain calm, you have a capable Department, trust your team. You’re not gonna be any good to anyone if you’re back in Medical.”

Realizing that the doctor was quite correct, combined with the fact she was tired, "Ok doctor, you win, I will go get some rest. Would 6 hours of sleep be sufficient", J'Loni said.

“That is not optimal but it would be sufficient. Do you need a sleep aid? J’Loni?”

"It would help as I am over tired and it might take me awhile to fall out", J'Loni said smiling.

"Ok, hold still," JC quickly pulled a small hypospray from his pocket. He administered the medicine to J'Loni's neck. "This will bring you down, and help you relax, it is designed to help calm you enough to allow you to sleep. Go lay down and then check in with me when you wake up." Without waiting for a reply JC left to go to the bridge to check on the duty officers.

He was gone before she could thank him. Shrugging, she went to the cot in her office and laid down. Wether or not the noise of the work being done or the fact it was the drug, she didn't care but she was falling asleep finally. All the noise stopped, all the lights went out, and soon she hears only the sound of her own heartbeating softly saying 'sleep, sleep...'
